Finance The Finance Section provides educational opportunities and assistance to Chapter members by providing broad-based, industry-wide statistical information relating to law firm financial management.
Human Resources The Human Resources Section provides an educational forum in matters of human resources management, including employment law and current industry trends. Chapter members also benefit from the exchange of knowledge and the expertise of other members at annual open forum meetings.
Leadership The Leadership Section promotes the development and professional standing of legal management professionals by acting as an informational resource, presenting educational forums, establishing professional networks within the legal community and ALA, and advocating the viewpoint and value of the manager's role in the delivery of legal services and on issues impacting the legal profession.
Operations & Technology The Operations and Technology Section provides administrators and IT professionals with educational presentations on trends and innovations in technologies specific to law firms, while providing a forum for discussions and idea exchanges for Chapter members.
Business Partnering The Business Partnering Committee promotes and maintains strong vendor relationships in order to enhance the services and benefits available to chapter members and strengthen the chapter's economic base.
Community Service The Community Service Committee supports the National ALA Annual Community Challenge Weekend project by creating a local event where members, vendors and firms work together in our local community to give back. The Golden Gate Chapter also supports the Firefighters Holiday Toy Drive at our annual Holiday Party and looks for additional opportunities to serve our community.
Distressed Law Firm Initiative The Distressed Law Firm Initiative is a group of past Chapter presidents who are standing by to assist members who are in professional transition with either career or resume review advice.
Diversity The Diversity Committee organizes initiative to increase awareness and diversity among non-lawyer professionals within law firms.
Events The Events Committee organizes and executes two annual Business Partner appreciation events per year. They may also assist in planning the annual Board retreat and the Quarterly Meetings.
Immediate Past President Matthew Ogden Job Bank The Job Bank is a clearinghouse service to all ALA members who are seeking administrative or management positions within the legal industry and is a free service to our members.
Marketing The Marketing Committee creates visibility for the ALA. It produces advertisements for placement in legal publications and press releases for dissemination to appropriate media. It also produces collateral materials such as awards, stationery items, decals and gifts for distribution to create an awareness of the organization, and to publicize the benefits of membership and the contributions ALA makes in the community.
Membership The strength of the Chapter rests solely on its membership. The efficiency of the Chapter is assured when new members, with new ideas and energy join and participate. The primary goal of the Membership Committee is to reach those individuals within our profession who will benefits from membership in the ALA. The Membership Committee also produces an annual directory of Chapter members and member firms, which is distributed free of charge to all members, providing invaluable contact information about all members.
Newsletter The Chapter publishes a monthly newsletter called The Bridge. The purpose of the newsletter is to keep Chapter members informed of upcoming Section, Chapter, Regional and National meetings and events. It also publishes educational and informational articles on issues that concern members, and provides members with a forum to share their experiences and ideas while promoting Chapter services and networking opportunities.
Quarterly Meetings, Region 6 Conference Liasion and Managing Partner Forums The Quarterly Meetings, Region 6 Conference Liasion and Managing Partner Forums Section organizes large social events and educational presentations, on a quarterly basis, on a broad range of topics that are informative in all aspects of the legal community. It also provides opportunities for including managing partners and other attorneys of member firms in ALA events so that they have an appreciation of the value of programs that the Chapter provides to its membership.
Region 6 Officer Steve Morris, CLM Salary & Benefits Survey The Survey Committee surveys the Bay Area legal community for salary, benefits and staffing data and prepares a comprehensive, detailed and localized summary of Bay Area firms with the assistance of an independent accounting firm. The salary and benefits survey is an extremely valuable tool for administrators and managers in the legal community. The Committee oversees the revision and distribution of the survey questionnaire, reviews the data before publication, and handles sales of the survey throughout the year.
